Steven Ralph Jerman was born in 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah where he was raised. He worked most of his life as a graphic artist. He creates colorful work using water-based paint, paper, wood, and digital imaging. He first became known for T-shirt designs done while a student at Utah State University. He was then influenced by New York City pop artists after a brief stay in 1984. Later while working in publishing and with the Salt Lake City AIGA, he became apprised of other designers/illustrators, collage and digital styles.
Currently, he resides in Logan, Utah. Over his career, he has used different media and had several techniques including naive and abstract. In 2000 after being exposed to Photoshop through magazine art director roles, he created a new style of imagery. He calls the art “Mergings” which combine separate images based on a concept. He published a book about the artwork in 2010, has spoken about it, and has demonstrated it publicly.
With a child's imagination to fine art, and recognizing his own time and place, he wishes to begin to sell his fine art which would be the ultimate culmination of an accomplished and renaissant career.
